Zendaya spent Friday in New York working through the last of the press for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and did it in a black vinyl suit that could have gone very badly and instead did not.

The blazer and wide leg trousers were worn over a plain white scoop neck T shirt, finished with black pumps, her bob parted to the side and pressed straight. The restraint is what makes it work. Vinyl tailoring plus anything else would be a costume.

The second look

Later she changed into burgundy trousers with a sleeveless white button down under a sheer black mesh tank, which is the kind of layering that only reads as considered when the proportions are right.

On Thursday night she was photographed with Tom Holland, her husband, a fellow Spider-Man alumnus and one of her co stars in The Odyssey. They walked hand in hand, she in a black dress with a plunging neckline and a slit skirt, he in jeans and a blue cardigan.

What she wants next

Asked at the premiere by Entertainment Tonight what she planned to do once the tour ended, she did not reach for anything polished. Nothing, she said. Mind her own business and keep to herself.

She expanded a little. A press tour is a new place every second and it leaves your brain scattered, and while she is grateful and would not change it, sometimes you need to stop.

In her summer 2026 ELLE cover story she made the same point with a caveat attached. It has been a long year, she said, and she is proud of it and loves the work, but she will need a break afterwards. The caveat: as soon as she takes one, she starts going slightly mad and wants to work again.
