No wedding photographs have come out of the July 3 ceremony, so the rings have had to do the talking. The first glimpse arrived on July 10 when the couple attended another wedding and long lens photographs caught two gold stacks at a distance.
Since then Travis Kelce has been rather less careful with his. His longtime trainer posted a picture of him flashing the band, and he has been photographed training in it. Nobody has a proper close up. Jewellers have opinions anyway.
What they can see
The consensus is that the band is wider than average. Olivia Landau of The Clear Cut puts it between five and six millimetres and thinks it is a comfort fit. Angie Kennedy at Zales lands in the same place and describes a classic yellow gold band with a smooth polished finish and a softly rounded profile.
Lauren Boc of Hera Fine Jewelry calls it fairly wide, around six millimetres or a little more. Steph Mazuera, who makes engagement rings to order under her own name, agrees on the measurement and reads it as a domed band, most likely eighteen carat yellow gold.
The point is that it is unremarkable
That is the interesting part. Mazuera told ELLE the ring is very simple, and that rather than choosing something that makes a statement he appears to have picked a piece that will never feel dated. For a man whose off field wardrobe is not known for restraint, it is the quiet option.
Boc notes the width does track with a current preference among male clients for something more substantial, and Kennedy agrees the scale suits him. So it is understated without being timid.
It matches hers
The yellow gold is not incidental. Landau points out it picks up the metal in Taylor Swift's engagement ring, which makes the two stacks read as a pair rather than as two separate decisions.
Which is, in the end, what a wedding band is for. Four jewellers looked at a blurry photograph of a hand and reached the same conclusion: he chose something he will still want to wear in thirty years.
