Charlize Theron turned the 2026 Academy Museum Gala into a family affair, bringing her two daughters along as she picked up one of the night's top honors.
An Icon Award, presented by a friend
Theron received the Icon Award, given to artists whose careers have had significant global reach, with proceeds from the night supporting the museum's exhibitions and education programs. Sigourney Weaver handled the presentation. For the occasion, Theron wore a custom black Tom Ford gown with sheer panels, detailed embellishments, and a train, paired with Boucheron jewelry and a sleek bob styled with side-swept microbangs.
A red carpet arrival, then a family evening
Theron walked the carpet alone for photographers, but 14-year-old Jackson and 12-year-old August joined her for the rest of the night, both dressed in black to match their mother's look. Speaking with The Academy on the carpet, Theron reflected on the moment with a kind of disbelief. 'I'm always a little bit like is it a dream, is it real,' she said. 'It's really lovely.'
A family she has been open about from the start
Theron has spoken for years about the experience of adopting and raising her daughters. In a 2020 post marking National Daughters Day, she wrote that her daughters had changed her completely, calling them her two beautiful powerhouses and saying she would never be the same because of them. Appearances like this one, with both girls at her side for a major career moment, remain rare, which made Saturday's outing stand out even more.
