Blue Ivy Carter added another performance to her growing resume on Friday night, joining her father, Jay-Z, onstage at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood for a special moment during his Jay-Z 30 Tour.

Two songs, one surprise cameo

Footage shared by fans in attendance showed the 14-year-old playing piano alongside Jay-Z during a live performance of 'The Story of O.J.,' from his 2017 album 4:44, and again during 'Dead Presidents,' a track from earlier in his catalog. The show was the first of two Los Angeles stops marking three decades of his music. After her part in the set, Blue was met with applause, hugged her father, and acknowledged the crowd before heading offstage. She wore a blue-and-red jacket that looked like vintage Rocawear, finished with silver chrome nails.

A talent her father says is entirely natural

Jay-Z spoke about Blue's musical ability in a March interview with GQ, describing her as a serious pianist who has so far resisted formal lessons. 'Blue is a crazy pianist, but she won't let us get her a teacher,' he said. 'She doesn't want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch.' He explained that she can hear a song once and teach herself to play it, calling that kind of ear pure talent rather than something she has had to work at, a contrast to the effort she has put into performing as a dancer on Beyonce's Renaissance and Cowboy Carter tours. 'I don't think we're going to be able to get her off that stage now,' he added.
