At the New York premiere of The Odyssey, Zendaya wore an angelic white gown by Matieres Fecales, and the reference in it goes back further than the film. It is a callback to a look she wore in an episode of Shake It Up, which is the sort of joke she and her stylist Law Roach have been making for years.

## The dress was reserved before the film existed

Roach explained on the carpet that he had asked the label to hold the look in advance, so far in advance that he is not sure the film had been made yet. He knew the project was coming and wanted it. The brand held it, and the gown went untouched from the runway until that night.

They are young designers we are really into, he said, describing the arrangement as something he and Zendaya were grateful for.

## Why this one

The label is run by the design duo Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran and has built a following that includes Lady Gaga and Sarah Paulson. Zendaya wore a peach piece by them during the press tour for The Drama.

This gown fits the mythological world she has been dressing inside all summer. The silhouette is corseted and the train is winged in the manner of the Nike of Samothrace, which is about as direct as a reference gets without a caption.

## The finishing

She wore heelless pumps from a collaboration between the label and Christian Louboutin, Chopard jewels, and soft waves with undone braids running through them.

If Athena presided over the earlier stops on this tour, this was the angelic close.
