Victoria Beckham may be best known for a reliable nude lip, but her newest beauty launch, Rouge Victoria, goes in the opposite direction entirely, built around six shades of crimson and maroon housed in a sculptural alabaster vessel. The lineup includes Coquelicot, a vibrant poppy, House Red, her go to neutral red, Heritage, a brick tone, Velours, a chocolate cherry, Pinot, a burgundy, and Minuit, a deep maroon.
Years in the making
Beckham said the idea traces back to a black tie event years ago, when Valentino himself told her every woman should wear a red lip, a suggestion she was initially too nervous to follow. She said it has taken a long time to build the confidence, crediting better skin and a formula that will not dry out or need constant checking for finally making her feel ready to commit to the look. She described red lipstick as a source of real empowerment, saying it makes her feel strong and confident, something she typically reached for only in editorial or event settings before now.
Styling advice and life outside the lipstick
Beckham recommends pairing a bold lip with simpler eye makeup to avoid overdoing a look, and says she likes wearing a red lip equally with jeans and a gray T shirt or with a tuxedo, viewing the color as shorthand for glamour and strength either way. Asked about her wellness routine, she described eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, and training five days a week with her husband, mostly strength work with a little cardio. Reflecting on her documentary series nearly a year after it aired, she said the best compliment she received was from people close to her who said the series captured the person they actually know.
