Tate McRae fans finally have a way to smell like the pop star. She has officially launched her first fragrance, Tate 01, marking her first move into beauty. McRae describes the scent as a piece of the character she is building for her next era, saying it is simply how that character smells, with more to come down the line.
A big year leading up to it
The launch arrives after a major stretch for McRae, who wrapped her Miss Possessive World Tour in late 2025 before headlining buzzy sets at Osheaga and Lollapalooza this year. She closed her Lollapalooza set performing Sports Car while covered in gold, a moment she described as heavy and goo like, joking that running backstage to shower afterward was one of the grossest feelings of her life, even if it was worth it.
What is actually in the bottle
Working with Scent Beauty Inc, McRae built Tate 01 around notes of sage and bergamot that evolve into amber, tonka bean and sandalwood, using the lab created ingredient ISO E Super to help the scent shift slightly depending on who wears it. She said testing it on friends and getting different reactions from each person has been one of the most fun parts of the process. The fragrance is available now at tatebytm.com ahead of a wider Ulta Beauty launch on October 16, and McRae said she designed the packaging to feel classic enough that she would still want it displayed on her shelf twenty years from now, hinting that a Tate 02 could eventually follow.
