Spoilers follow for the season 3 finale of Nobody Wants This.

After three seasons of family friction, religious questions, and a rocky breakup along the way, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) finally get married in Nobody Wants This season 3, just not anywhere close to how either of them had planned it.

## Where season 3 picks up

The new episodes, which premiered October 22, start right after Joanne's decision to convert to Judaism at the end of season 2. With that conflict resolved, the season follows the couple moving in together, getting engaged, and working through wedding planning, while the people around them have a rockier time of it. By the finale, Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simons) have crossed a line in their friendship, and Esther (Jackie Tohn) is reconsidering her marriage.

## A wedding that goes sideways, then right

Noah proposes in episode 4, kicking off a wedding planning process complicated almost immediately by his mother, Bina (Tovah Feldshuh), whose opinions start crowding out what Joanne and Noah actually want. Things come to a head in the finale, titled The Plunge, when the couple travels to Malibu for Joanne's mikvah, the ritual immersion marking the completion of her conversion.

The celebration at the rented beach house turns tense when old tension between Morgan, Sasha, and Esther spills into a family argument. Rather than let it overshadow Joanne's milestone, she and Noah slip away with Rabbi Eden (Sarah Silverman) and head to the beach on their own. After Joanne completes her immersion in the ocean, the two decide, on the spot, to get married right there.

'This is supposed to be about us, and we got way off track,' Noah tells her. 'Marry me. Right here, right now, just us. I just want to be married to you.'

With Rabbi Eden officiating, a ketubah pulled from Joanne's car, and a stranger on the beach standing in as witness, the two begin an impromptu ceremony. The scene cuts away before it concludes on screen, but the show's creators have confirmed the marriage is official.

## Joanne's conversion, finished

The finale also closes out Joanne's months of classes and preparation with Rabbi Eden, formally completing her conversion. The decision marks a real shift from season 2, when her uncertainty around converting nearly ended the relationship. She ultimately chose Judaism for herself rather than to save the relationship, and in the finale ties that decision to the future she wants to build with Noah, children included.
