A decade after Insecure became one of the defining shows of its era, Issa Rae is developing her next project for HBO. The series, currently called Untitled Male Friendship Show, is still in the earliest stages of development, but it marks a shift for Rae toward a story told through a male perspective, centered on friendship rather than the dating and career terrain Insecure covered.

## Who is building it with her

Rae's Insecure collaborator Prentice Penny is attached as showrunner, executive producer and pilot director. Jax Clark will also executive produce through Rae's own production company, Hoorae Media, alongside A Penny For Your Thoughts and Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment, according to Deadline.

## What the show is about

Deadline reports the series will follow a 30 year old barber and aspiring sports manager who also works as a professional best friend to JB, an up and coming boxer, as the two navigate ambition, insecurity, loneliness and the pressures of success inside the high stakes world of professional boxing in Las Vegas. No casting has been announced yet, and the show has not started filming, though Rae already has a completed pilot script.
