Taking a cue from a runway usually costs money, often a lot of it. Occasionally it does not, and Hailey Bieber has spent this summer demonstrating the exception.

The item

It is the zigzag stretch comb headband, the moulded plastic one sold at every chemist for under ten dollars, unchanged since it was a fixture of the school playground. The model and Rhode founder has gone back to it repeatedly, and Bella Hadid and Alexa Demie have both been seen wearing one too. Nobody has established which brand she favours, which rather suits the object.

How she wears it

Pushed straight back through her chestnut lob, and with more or less anything. It has appeared over polished gym clothes and, in an entirely different register, with low rise white jeans and a camel baby tee, an outfit that reads as a direct quotation of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy during her Calvin Klein years.

Why it came back

Miu Miu is the reason. Miuccia Prada ran the comb through the autumn and winter 2026 collection, worn with hair softly pushed back, against leather car coats and shaggy minidresses. That pairing did the work. A piece of moulded plastic sitting on top of expensive tailoring is precisely the high and low collision the house has built a reputation on.

Bieber's own fixation most likely starts in the same place. She appears in the Miu Miu autumn and winter 2026 campaign, where the headband turns up alongside babydoll dresses, leather topcoats and low rise satin trousers.

The point

The most wanted accessory of the season is not a bag and it is not a shoe. It is a throwback pulled off a drugstore shelf, and for once the barrier to entry is nothing at all.
