Hailey Bieber is going darker for the season. The Rhode founder traded her signature warm brunette for a much deeper espresso shade, her darkest hair color in more than a decade. Celebrity hairstylist Irinel de León shared the first look at the transformation on Instagram on September 18, crediting the new color to colorist Matt Rez, with cut and styling by de León and extensions from Priscilla Valles.
A deep, piecey finish
The new color falls well below Bieber's shoulders, built with piecey layers and face framing strands that give the deep brown shade plenty of movement rather than a flat, one note look. It follows a run of hair changes for Bieber this year, starting with a modern nineties inspired bob that grew into a lob, which she has since been extending and experimenting with through the spring using longer lengths and extensions.
Not her first dark hair moment
Bieber has embraced brunette before, most memorably in 2015 when she attended the Met Gala with nearly black, violet toned hair styled into a long ponytail with curtain bangs. Her new shade lands in similarly rich territory but with a softer, more everyday wearable finish, timed for the cooler months when deeper tones tend to replace summer's lighter, warmer shades. Bieber has said in the past that she has never been against experimenting with her look, describing herself as someone who simply likes trying new things.
