Hailey Bieber is best known for her glazed donut nails, but at Saint Laurent's spring 2027 show she went in a darker direction, pairing an all-black look with a glossy, deep brown manicure that has quickly picked up a coffee shop nickname of its own.
A classic look with a modern finish
Manicurist Jin Soon Choi, founder of her own nail brand, said the color is really a fresh take on the vamp nail trend, which happens to be marking its 100th anniversary this year and always pairs naturally with the arrival of colder weather. She described dark nails as chic and classic on their own, with finish and texture doing the work of making them feel current, noting that Bieber's deep, glossy manicure looked especially sharp against her black blazer. To recreate it, Choi recommends her own shade called Theda, a translucent brown leaning jelly vamp she also used backstage at Proenza Schouler.
A season full of food inspired browns
Olivia Van Iderstine, nail trend expert for Olive and June, framed the moment as part of a wider brown nail fall, tying the timing to Rhode's launch at Sephora Europe and comparing the shade to a shot of espresso for the nails. She called it a reliably crisp, cool weather neutral that works on almost any nail shape, recommending a deep, cool toned brown with minimal red undertones, applied precisely and sealed with a glossy topcoat for maximum shine. It joins a growing lineup of similarly food named brown manicures already circulating this season, including brown sugar espresso and cherry noir.
