Black Doves was renewed for a second season before its first had even premiered, and Netflix is now bringing Keira Knightley's spy thriller back for six new episodes arriving November 5. The show follows Helen Webb, whose husband Wallace's rising political career gives her access to serious government secrets in the new season, all while her loyalty to the shadowy Black Doves organization remains an open question after season one tested it repeatedly.
What is left unresolved
Season one ended with Helen and her ally Sam Young, played by Ben Whishaw, causing serious damage to a powerful crime family, a storyline unlikely to stay closed given how motivated that family will be for revenge. Sam also ended the season working for a former enemy, setting up plenty of tension heading into the new episodes, even if a full sense of peace for Helen and Sam still feels far off.
Who is coming back, and who is new
Knightley and Whishaw return as the show's central pair, joined again by Sarah Lancashire, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O'Casey and Molly Chesworth. New additions include Ambika Mod as Laila, an anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen, Babou Ceesay as a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives, Sam Riley as an emissary offering Sam a lifeline, along with Neve Campbell, Sylvia Hoeks, Goran Kostic and Samuel Barnett in new roles. Filming got underway in and around London in November 2025, and Netflix released a first teaser trailer back in December 2024 ahead of the November premiere.
