Adam Brody is back as Noah, the hip young rabbi at the center of Nobody Wants This, with season 3 following his relationship with agnostic girlfriend Joanne, played by Kristen Bell, when it premieres on Netflix October 22. Ahead of the release, Brody spoke with ELLE about fashion, marriage and a few things he still has not gotten around to learning.
What marriage has taught him
Asked about the wisdom he has picked up over 12 years married to Leighton Meester, Brody pointed to the duality in everyone, saying he can feel mature and responsible one moment and like a little boy the next, still surprised by his own age. He said the real lesson has been learning to humble himself without changing who he fundamentally is, factoring another person's wants and needs into decisions and accepting that he will not always be right, something he admits is much easier to pull off single.
On Kristen Bell and a few confessions
Brody described being struck by how much pure energy Kristen Bell brings to a set, calling her presence a kind of halo effect that keeps everyone's mood up. On fashion, he said he is probably more concerned with his own wardrobe than Meester is, even though they share an appreciation for aesthetics. He also admitted to being a longtime procrastinator on learning Spanish despite years of good intentions, and said he has become noticeably more domestic since getting married, even if he would not go so far as to call himself a great cook or especially handy around the house.
